The same faces every day

In a large facility, your parent might see a dozen different staff members in a week. In our home there are never more than six residents, so caregivers learn how each person likes their coffee, when they prefer to bathe, and what helps on a hard afternoon.

That attention shows up in small changes noticed early: a dip in appetite, a new unsteadiness, a change in mood. We share those with families right away.

What daily care includes

  1. A care plan written for one person

    We meet with you and your loved one before move-in, then review the plan as needs change.

  2. Help with daily living

    Bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility and transfers, with patience and respect for privacy.

  3. Medication assistance

    Medications are given on schedule and documented, and we coordinate with pharmacies and doctors.

  4. Home-cooked meals

    Three meals a day plus snacks, adjusted for diabetic, soft or other special diets.

  5. Dementia and mental health care

    Calm routines, gentle redirection, and caregivers who know each resident's history.

  6. Company and activity

    Conversation, music, puzzles, time in the garden, and family visits that feel like visiting a home.

What is an adult family home?

An adult family home is a regular house in a residential neighborhood where a licensed provider cares for a small number of adults. Washington's Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) licenses and inspects these homes. Fairway Home Care is licensed for up to six residents, so care is personal and the setting feels like a home, not a facility.

Is an adult family home the same as an adult foster home?

They are very similar. "Adult foster home" is the term used in Oregon. In Washington the licensed term is "adult family home." If you live in Portland and are searching across the river, Fairway Home Care is a Washington adult family home in Vancouver.

How many residents live at Fairway Home Care?

We are licensed for a maximum of six residents. Small size means caregivers know each resident's routines, preferences and health needs well.
